Sermon Title: Lonely Kids Need You
Kids are in desperate need of good relationships with loving adults that are following Jesus. They need someone besides their parents to step into this role. How can you build a real relationship with the next generation?
Sermon Points and Questions
1. What is your honest level of care for someone else's kids?
2.What is one thing about "GOD" that someone has to believe in order to believe in the true God?
3. Check out these awesome parenting goals:
- What matters more than anything is that my kids have an authentic relationship with God.
- My wife and I are not the only adult influences my children need.
- My children need to know I will never stop fighting for a right relationship with them.
- My relationship with God and with my wife affects my children more than I realize.
- Just being together can never substitute for interacting together in a meaningful way.
4. Your role is not to impress your children or anyone else with you ability to parent, your role is to impress your children with the love and nature of God.
5. When your kids need someone other than you, who (like, what is their name) of the person they will turn to?
6. How can you leverage the normal, everday aspects of life to instill a love for God in your children?

7. Every child needs at least 5 adults who are not their parents to invest in them personally and spiritually. Who are those 5 people for your kids right now?
8. What does it mean to fight for the heart? How is fighting FOR someone different than fighting WITH someone?
9. Why did Moses tell people to tell a story rather than directly answer a question about "why?"
10. What is one thing you can start doing today to be more intentional to put this into practice and invest in the lives of other people's kids... and/or be intentional about connecting your own kids to other trusted adults?

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 NLT
4 “Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone.[a] 5 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. 6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. 7 Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. 8 Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
6:20-25 NLT
20 “In the future your children will ask you, ‘What is the meaning of these laws, decrees, and regulations that the Lord our God has commanded us to obey?’
21 “Then you must tell them, ‘We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt, but the Lord brought us out of Egypt with his strong hand. 22 The Lord did miraculous signs and wonders before our eyes, dealing terrifying blows against Egypt and Pharaoh and all his people. 23 He brought us out of Egypt so he could give us this land he had sworn to give our ancestors. 24 And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day. 25 For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the Lord our God has given us.’
